In 1989,
For my Photography 3 class at Murray State University I was tasked with creating a video adaptation of a poem. I ended up choosing In 1989, (In 1989, the US Government Began Using Video Games to Teach Soldiers Warfare. They Admit It Ten Years Later.) as its message was powerful and that its name was almost as long as the poem itself.
I focused on key words within the poem for visual references such as the gameboy for video games and the leaf floating in the wind for last breath. The use of cutting straight to black was to draw attention to the tonal shift starting at elsewhere.
